LSU stuns Ole Miss in OT victory

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana - In a wild night in Death Valley, the LSU Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels matched up in what turned out to be an instant classic.

Ole Miss opened a 10 point lead including a 50 yard TD by running back, Ulysses Bennet IV. The LSU Tigers answered with a 12 yard TD pass from Garrett Nussmeier to WR Trey'Dez Green. The Rebels would not let up on offense as they answered the LSU score with a TD pass of their own to WR Tre Harris.

Down 17-7, The LSU Tigers were able to grab two field goals just before halftime, one coming off of a fumble caused by the LSU defense.

The second half was defensive battle as both teams would only allow 3 fgs combined. Rebels led the Tigers 23-16, until the final LSU drive of regulation. Nussmeier and the LSU offense needed a TD to tie the game and a chance for overtime. Nussmeier drove the Tigers methodically down the field and with 37 seconds left in regulation, Nussmeier would find WR Aaron Anderson for a 23 yard TD. Damien Ramos added the extra point to send the game into OT.

In OT, Ole Miss took the ball and could only muster a fg on their only possession. This left the door open for LSU to end it and they did it on one play. QB Nussmeier found WR Kyren Lacy in the right corner of the endzone on a game winning 25 yd TD pass. Excited LSU fans stormed the field immediately as players celebrated along side of them.

Kyren Lacy had a game high 111 receiving yards and the game sealing TD. When asked about the catch, Lacy said, "I was only thinking about the ball." QB Garrett Nussmeier finished with 337 passing yards, 3TDs and 2ints.

LSU continues their SEC tenure next weekend as they take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in Arkansas.
