Former LSU wide receiver officially joins Ole Miss

A former LSU wide receiver will officially being practice with a SEC rival on Tuesday. According to Bruce Feldman, Deion Smith can hit the field with Ole Miss.

Smith began his career at LSU in 2021 but transferred amidst the Ed Orgeron to Brian Kelly coaching transition. He spent two years at the JUCO level before transferring to Ole Miss. There were some hang-ups and Smith wasn’t able to practice right away.

With all the big names in the Ole Miss transfer class, Smith has flown under the radar, but he has the talent to make an impact in 2024.

In 2021, Smith caught 11 passes for 186 yards and two scores. Those aren’t huge numbers, but Smith put some impressive highlights on tape.

As a high school recruit, Smith was a four-star and the top player in Mississippi. A few years later, coming from the junior college ranks, On3 ranked Smith as the top JUCO recruit in the country.

Smith won’t be the only former Tiger suiting up for Ole Miss in 2024. Former LSU running back Logan Diggs joins the Rebels’ offense after leading LSU RBs in rushing yards last year.

Ole Miss is hoping a loaded transfer class can catapult the program to the top of the SEC, making up for some of its deficiencies in recruiting at the high school level.
